One-on-one conversation practice for people with aphasia

CARING FOR A PERSON WITH APHASIA?

Welcome, Caregivers

If you care for a person with aphasia, you're probably already doing everything to help. It can be hard to meet the need for more practice time in addition to all your other roles.

At AphasiaPals, we know because this is our story, too. We built AphasiaPals so people with aphasia could benefit from more one-on-one conversation time, without asking caregivers to add more to their plates.

Build skills and confidence
to say the things that matter

AphasiaPals can help your loved one:

Not every conversation has to be about recovery. Sometimes your loved one just wants to laugh, catch up, or talk to someone who gets it.

AphasiaPals one-on-one sessions focus on what the client wants to talk about,

so they can gain a sense of joy and self-direction when they speak.

Enjoy themselves in conversation

Use AphasiaPals to make progress between or after speech therapy sessions -- or use conversations to talk about life goals and exciting plans.

It's simple. More individual practice time means more progress.

Make progress towards goals

Sometimes it's hard to say what matters, whether it's speaking up for yourself, sharing important information, or reconnecting with loved ones.

Practice builds confidence, so important conversations can become possible again.

A Resource for Care Partners
Janu's Story

I understand what it's like to be stretched to capacity as a care partner. While my friend Demetrius recovered from his stroke, he craved more one-on-one conversation time. The problem was, my days as a care partner were already crammed to capacity.

I was also processing a lot emotionally, as a care partner dealing with grief and change. With so much going on, it was hard to have conversations where we could simply focus on the joy of connection.

That's where the idea for AphasiaPals came from.

We understand that as a care partner, you want the best for your loved one. AphasiaPals is a resource you can call on for more positive, safe, supportive conversation practice.

It can help your person build confidence and independence -- and we hope it can also help take one thing off your shoulders.
