AphasiaPals:
The Bridge to Real-World Conversation

High-dosage conversation practice to supplement your clinical plan.

For the Busy SLP

Maximize Your Client’s Carryover

As a therapist, you provide the tools for recovery. But your clients need more than one hour a week to build communicative confidence. You shouldn’t have to fill that gap alone.

AphasiaPals provides 1:1 virtual conversation practice that works alongside your treatment. We provide the "gym" where your clients can practice the skills you teach them in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

Why SLPs Trust AphasiaPals

  • Trained Communication Companions: Every AphasiaPals companion completes specialized training in communication support, active listening, and aphasia-friendly communication strategies.

  • Lived Experience Informed: Companions learn from Demetrius, whose recovery journey inspired AphasiaPals, helping them better understand the real-world experience of living with aphasia.

  • Focused on Supportive Practice: Our companions create a safe, encouraging environment where clients can practice communication, build confidence, and engage in meaningful conversation.

  • Private, Secure Sessions: We use JaneApp, a secure and easy-to-use healthcare platform, to keep sessions private, safe, and convenient for clients and caregivers.

Why AphasiaPals Exists

We believe communication is more than a clinical goal. Every person deserves opportunities to participate, connect, and express themselves. Because communication matters, and the people behind the communication matter too.

What We Are (and What We Aren't)

  • Not Therapy: We have no clinical agenda. We focus on social connection and successful communication.

  • Client-Led: The person with aphasia chooses the topic. We follow their lead.

  • Accessible: 30-minute virtual sessions at $29 per session.

  • SLP-Respectful: We respect your professional relationship. We provide a space for practice, not a replacement for intervention.

Meet Janu & Demetrius, Founder & Inspiration of AphasiaPals

AphasiaPals was born from the journey of Janu and Demetrius. After his stroke, Demetrius craved more than just clinical exercises; he wanted to talk.

He wanted to reconnect with his family and regain his identity as a speaker.

Janu created AphasiaPals to provide exactly that:

a quality, human-centered resource that supports

the emotional and social needs of recovery.
